Meet Anett - she is an awarded contemporary soul singer-songwriter & has more than a decade of experience as a jazz vocalist. She definitely is one of the most distinctive artists in Estonian contemporary soul sphere. Anett has been awarded Female Artist of the Year and Pop Artist of the Year at Estonian Music Awards 2021. You have a very cool style! How do you choose your outfits?
Thank youu :) For day-to-day outfits I value comfort over anything else. That being said - I like mixing vintage finds with more modern stuff, I like to wear oversized clothes a lot, I always prefer high quality materials and like to wear different textures together. And then usually add quirky and unique details to spice it up.
One of my favourites is the kimono robe, it's so simple yet special... and so comfortable.
A nipple patch once fell off and dropped on the stage – that was pretty awkward...
For me there's only one rule that applies about 98% of the times - music before lyrics. From there on the things that inspire a song can be very different and often quite random. For example the last song I worked on kicked off with the producer trying to find the right BPM for the song and said - "let's take this a little bit slower" and that clicked and the whole song went from there. Other times the whole process can be very emotional pouring my heart out. Nevertheless, some songs change a hundred times before they get released, it's always important that I vibe 100% with every song I release.
For me the most inspiring musicians and artists are the ones, who don't lose themselves in the process, and value whatever feels right to them as artists over anything anybody else says, cause it's so easy to go with trends and be pushed into genres and I get how difficult that can be. For that I'm very much in love with Jon Batiste and Olivia Dean's music right now for example.

The "Late to the Party" presentation concert will take place on November 25th as the opening concert of Jazzkaar's Christmas Jazz at the Vaba Lava. Tickets are on sale at Piletilevi.
