The Foundation Collection: Luxury Jersey Basics with an Edge
The Foundation is Kriss Soonik's collection of everyday jersey basics with an edge: bras, knickers, tops, leggings and slips, many finished with our signature suspender (garter) detail. Every piece is made in small quantities in our Tallinn studio.
When I started Kriss Soonik, I wanted to make basics that weren't boring. The pieces you wear every day (underwear, T-shirts, slip dresses) deserve to be good: soft, well-made and comfortable. But they also deserve a detail that makes them interesting.
Why the suspender detail?
At the time, nobody was doing anything fun with jersey basics in the luxury lingerie space. Everything was very traditional. Maybe you'd get a lace trim here or there, but nothing playful. I felt jersey could be my point of difference, and it has stayed that way until now.
We started as a lingerie brand but we were never overtly sexy. We wanted pieces that felt playful and a little mischievous, and garter details did that. My aim was to make them more casual, more everyday. After a lot of experimenting, I added garter clips to a jersey tank top and I knew I'd hit the jackpot. Our signature piece was born. When I showed it at our first trade show in London in 2010, the buyers were amazed. They knew they were seeing something they hadn't really seen before.
We keep updating that design and testing it in new fabrics but the core idea hasn't changed. Our suspender details, which you may know as garter details, are distinctive. They make a basic piece feel a tiny bit naughty but a lot of fun. Read more in our guide to the suspender top.

Soft, well-made fabrics
Every piece is made from TENCEL™ Modal or bamboo jersey: soft, smooth and breathable against the skin. TENCEL™ Modal is a fibre made by Lenzing and our fabric holds the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certificate. Everything is made in small quantities in our Tallinn studio where we check quality at each stage.
How to wear The Foundation
The pieces work together. Pair the Karin Long-Sleeved Top with the Karin Stirrup Leggings for a complete catsuit look and layer them under our sheer pieces. Wear the Reina Slip as a nightdress or under a sheer dress. They are your first layer, so they have to feel good.
