Behind the Scenes: Spring/Summer 2014 Moodboard

Kriss talks us through the inspiration what got her creative juices flowing when designing the current SS14 collection.
5 years
It was when I started designing this collection that I first realised it will be our 5th anniversary during the launch. It really put things into perspective. I guess this is the reason why I used more of my personal stories as an inspiration. Also it gave a celebratory, almost a party feeling to the collection.
Fabrics
Lace, mesh, pique jersey - it´s all about mixing the rough with the fragile, the romantic with the casual, developing combinations that are not meant to work, but then all of a sudden do.
Tennis
It was my personal connection with tennis and how I was named after the 70´s star player Chris Evert. It´s quite a long and funny story, and soon we´ll dedicate an entire post to it. We´ll keep you posted. Here you can check out our tennis-themed photoshoot for SS14.
Flowers
The beauty of nature always manages to inspire me in some shape or form. A massive bouquet of pink peonies was the first gift from my fiancé on our first date six years ago. After that I became obsessed with peonies. Years later I discovered the Irving Penn’s Flower series. The tone of these photos literally inspired the colour of the mesh range.
Pearls
Ideal mix of strong, soft, rare & luxe - words I would use to describe the Kriss Soonik brand as well. The ultimate symbol of beauty and such a great contrast to the sportier side of the collection.
