Fridays with Kriss: 1800 kilometres between me and my studio

I live in London, but every piece of Kriss Soonik is made 1,800 kilometres away in Tallinn - and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ever since the brand was born 17 years ago, we've been manufacturing all our designs in Estonia. At first, it was logistically easier—we were an unknown brand with small quantities. But as we grew, it became something deeper. It became integral to who we are. We're flexible. We control the quality. When something goes wrong (and something always does), we react quickly. No long lead times, no compromises. Customers around the world loved the story that we make everything where we are from.

These small quantities became our superpower.

The intimacy of small-batch, handmade design hits differently. My head of production, Ilona, knows the designs inside out - better than me, honestly. Having that control is everything.

Made in Estonia. Made in Europe. It's a commitment, not just a label. The best decisions aren't always the cheapest, but when they mean this much, they're worth it. I could easily move production elsewhere. I live in London - I shouldn't care, right? But the distance proves how much it really matters to me.
